After reading "Handing the president a win on a major issue like immigration reform in the run up to the 2008 elections might be good policy, but it would be bad politics." in the Time article, I have not much hope in getting a GC in the near future.
If the Democrats agrees with the Republicans and passes any meaningful CIR, then the whole credit would go to Bush and Co. It would make the Republican campaign very easy for Bush.
If I were a Democratic Senator, I would do every thing to block any CIR from getting passed.
With the record number of H1 applications recently, we can also expect that they would put serious limitations on H1, claiming that the whole thing is misused.
Apparently, the whole thing is hugely bad for America. It is not just Indian politician who can destroy their own country, American politicians can also do a fantastic job of destroying their country.
I feel sorry for my kids, who are US citizens by birth.

The problem might occur when you file for citizenship, you have to justify why you dint work after getting the GC. However it is not written in stone that if you dont work for your petitioning company the officer will deny your citizenship or revoke your GC. They will look at the totality of the circumstances, since you worked for the petitioner for some time, they may not make a determination that the job offer was speculative, you have to show that you had every intention of working for them and the company had every intention of hiring you, maybe they can give a letter stating that they continue to market you and will re-hire as soon as the economy imporves. If your company finds a project for you, you should continue to work for them. Or you could have done AC-21 after the I-140 was approved and before the I-485 was approved.

I suppose that I need to get a letter from the company dated sometime after my GC approval date in order to present that in the time my citizenship process to justify that the job offer was not speculative; right?

The FAQ is saying Labor should be approved by the time you file for 140. Attaching any piece of evidence along with your 140 application that your labor has been approved should suffice.

These are documents which have to be carried. There is no confirmation that he/she wil be asked but if asked they have the documents on hand. I got stuck in immigration for 4 hours when they asked me all the above documents. So i believe in better safe than sorry
On a side note this happened when i was travelling back from India via Lufthansa
Makes sense but a couple of my friends who traveled during the winter break and came back through ATL did not have an issue, so that was where I was coming from.

Hi
I was also tested possitive due to vaccination in India. did the skin test and X-ray. I talked to my family Dr.(and couple of my Dr. Freinds.) and they all told me that my body will allways react to this test due to vaccination and if X-ray is fine we do not need any medication. In US all the Dr. has to get the test once a year and those vaccinated in their native country has to get an X-ray to confirm it as the test is allways possitive for them.
I would say Consult another Dr. just to be sure.

I am not sure about 1 week prior to appt they will allow or not. If you have real valid reason you may try talk to the officer(not the guard) and explain the situation. Kids are allowed. Our daughter is citizen and we took her with us.

my lawyer missed the 2nd july deadline even when he had all the papers. Now i am asking him to meet 30th july deadline he is not responding . what are the papers needed to file I485. Can I file it without lawyers help? He does have my immunization papers
Below is a rough checklist I prepared for myself:

2. Copy of Birth Certificate with affidavits from Parents. YES
3. Checks for Filing fees. YES
4. Completed forms I-485, G-325A, G-28, I-765 and I-131. YES
5. Color Copies of passports. YES
6. Copy of I-94 both sides. YES
7. Copies of F-1 visa, I-20, OPT EAD and H1B visas. YES
8. Copies of W2s and tax returns for the years 2004, 2005 and 2006. YES
9. Medical examination Report. YES

I deleted a post of his that made fun of Rep. Sensenbrenner's name.
He doesn't realize that we, the IV core team, now have to go hat in hand to the same Rep. Sensenbrenner to have the SKIL bill passed through the House Judiciary committee.
Legal wants the rest of us to pay for his freedom of expression - and no value add - on this public forum.
Enough said from me on this issue.

Yes, I am in the same Boat - My 485 was filed on July 19th but haven't received my receipt yet (485 filed at TSC)!
Guys, According to following URL, it seems that all july filers should get the RN by now irrespective of the processing centers. I am 24th July filer but still did not get the RNs so far. Are other ppl also in same boat? Please let me know. I am worried now.
